A Little Information About Our Chapter
The Blue Mountain Sams Chapter is chartered by the Good Sam Club. The Chapter operates using the "Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)" as approved by the Pennsylvania State Directors (State approval is required by the Good Sam Club Constitution & Bylaws - Click here for Good Sam Club Constitution & Bylaws). The SOP is available by clicking this link - Blue Mountain Sams SOP.
The Blue Mountain Sams was founded to promote social, recreational, and information exchange activities that provide for the enjoyment and pleasurable use of our family RV's. Members are encouraged to come and enjoy our campouts usually held between April and October.
One of the greatest benefits of Chapter membership is the opportunity it provides for fellowship with friends, a greater use of your RV, and discovering new places of interest. We usually hold our campouts at private campgrounds and fair grounds. Club members receive a wealth of RV information about experiences and ideas regarding repairs, winterization, use of various RV products, RV purchasing, battery care, etc.
Our campouts usually start on Friday and end on Sunday, however many of us arrive early (like Wednesday or Thursday) because of the fellowship we so much enjoy. We also encourage participation with Pennsylvania State Samborees. On a typical campout you will find us sitting around a fire chatting, playing games (like Ladder Golf, Cards Games, Kan Jam, etc.). Saturday evening we usually have a Pot-Luck supper and sometime the men will cook breakfast for everyone.
During our August campout each year we have a blind auction to raise money for Dogs for the Deaf. Each member is asked to bring at least three items (new or usable items and some bring many more) to donate to be auctioned off. The items are wrapped in newspaper so you can not tell what you are bidding on. We invite everyone at the campground to the auction to bid on the items. Every year we have had the auction everyone has had a really fun time. The best part is that all the money goes to Dogs for the Deaf. Dogs for the Deaf is a Good Sam sponsored Charity. Each year we have been getting anywhere between $600 and $1,000 to send to Dogs for the Deaf.
